Handy Tips During An Outage Or Severe Weather Warning

  • If you have a BBQ, remember you can use it for cooking during a power fault
  • Have a phone that does not require power
  • Keep your food safe by keeping the fridge/freezer doors closed, contents can last up to 24 hours
  • Make sure you can light candles to see and read with
  • Keep in touch with what's going on outside with a battery-operated radio
  • Keep a torch in a safe place so you can find it easily
  • If you rely on power to pump your water - make sure you keep a spare supply of water

Medically dependent without power?

If you are having problems with power supply and require electricity for medical equipment please

 

  • Use back up power (generator or batteries) and call for an update
  • Ask family or friends who have power if they can help
  • If neither of these are available, we recommend seeking assistance from your nearest hospital. Call 111 if you require urgent medical attention or need an ambulance. Please read our non emergency information about letting us know if you are medically dependent.
